American Council on Exercise (ACE)

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is a nonprofit organization with global reach that works to improve physical activity levels by certifying exercise professionals and health coaches, sponsoring original research, convening experts on physical activity and health, working directly with community groups, and advocating for policies to get people from all walks of life moving.

How we are advancing Active People, Health Nation

As a proud supporter of Active People, Healthy Nation, ACE is committed to advancing this initiative on three fronts:

Utilizing ACE certified exercise professionals and health coaches

Utilizing ACE certified exercise professionals and health coaches

ACE Certified Personal Trainers, Health Coaches, Group Fitness Instructors and Medical Exercise Specialists are perfectly positioned to empower and inspire people to get moving, or to get moving more.
ACE Certified Professionals have the education – with the– to provide individually-adapted health behavior change strategies that support individuals to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines by teaching behavioral skills such as appropriate goal setting and problem-solving. These strategies are tailored to a person’s individual interests and needs and encourage sustained, healthy lifestyle habits.

In addition to encouraging current clients to add to their routines to reach certain physical activity-related milestones, exercise professionals and health coaches can participate in community-based programs that impact sedentary and inactive people they might not otherwise reach. Participating in a single exercise session each week, even if the workout lasts only 10 minutes, can show someone who has negative associations with physical activity that it can be a fun, enjoyable, and attainable experience, which may set them on a new path toward more regular physical activity.
